home sweet home fall decor

The end of summer and beginning of fall is upon us. It won’t be long until the leaves are bursting with vibrant red, orange and yellow colors. Tis the season to enjoy the leaves crunching and feeling cozy and warm in front of the fireplace.

Follow these tips to make sure your home is ready for the seasonal changes.

Buy a programmable thermostat

Setting your thermostat automatically to a lower temperature at night and when you’re not home will help you save a lot on your utility bills.

Clean the gutters

Make sure your gutters are free of debris and while you are up there, check out your roof as well for any leaves.

Trim the trees

Trees and shrubs grow and grow during the summer. Trim them back to ensure they are not growing too close to the power lines.

Fertilize your lawn

Fertilizing your lawn is best done after summer is over. Applying it during the cooler months will help prevent winter damage and spring weeds.

Remove the leaves

Rake and remove the leaves from your lawn. There will be plenty of leaves falling so start early! Put them in a pile on the curb if you have local leaf pick up.
