Who We Are.

Paul Burkentine and his wife, Rajean, founded the company in 1989. Paul graduated from Penn State University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in Engineering Science from Loyola University. After completing his bachelor’s degree, they moved back to Hanover, PA in search of land to start their first business venture, and in 1989 the Burkentine legacy began! They built one home at a time, and within five years Paul was building 30 homes a year. During this time Paul and Rajean had three sons, Michael, Bryan, and Bryce. This was truly the beginning of the family business.

Having experienced exponential growth in such a short period of time Paul expanded his business opportunities to land development, residential rental properties, and commercial rental properties. Today, the company has expanded to Burkentine Real Estate Group and has grown into multiple companies including residential home building, engineering, land development, residential rental properties, commercial rental properties, property management, and storage units. Paul’s motto has always been “Whatever the mind believes and conceives it will achieve”. In 2022 Paul was recognized by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal as one of their “Power 30 for Real Estate and Construction”.

Michael graduated from Penn State University with a degree in civil engineering. He was recognized as Engineering Student of the Year for his enthusiasm and outstanding performance within the college of engineering, University Park. He oversees Sales, Build to Rent and Business Development.

Michael’s passion for innovation carried right into the family business. He grew the building business with his hands-on approach while working with his team. His business development expertise initiated a successful re-brand and evolution of various new products. He currently leads a talented team and oversees all marketing for the Burkentine Brand. He also manages all products built and sold to investors, in addition to operating the Build For Rent Emerging Market Division which is currently building townhomes & multifamily communities throughout the United States.

Mike is passionate about his community, and he is involved in various council boards along with mentoring programs at local high schools. His leadership in business development has allowed Burkentine to be a pacesetter in many markets.

Bryce graduated from Penn State University with a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering. He oversees Acquisitions and Real Estate. While pursuing his degree, he obtained his real estate license and purchased several rental properties. After graduating, Bryce was an ambitious, driving force in the growth of the family business.

Realizing the growth potential in the rental real estate market, Bryce quickly worked towards acquiring land and developing passive income projects. Forming a land development team and managing the finances, Bryce was able to obtain approvals on projects while creating the proformas to obtain financing. Bryce has a strategic, innovative approach that has allowed him to see new growth opportunities in the real estate market.

The collaboration between Bryce and his two brothers, Michael and Bryan, is a key component to the successful construction and management of multiple projects under the Burkentine Real Estate Group umbrella.

Bryan earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architectural Engineering from Penn State University. Bryan oversees Construction and Asset Management. While still a student, Bryan also obtained his real estate license.

With a thorough understanding of efficiencies and sequences he learned from launching and running small businesses early in his career, he was a perfect fit to manage and grow the rental construction and rental management units under the Burkentine Real Estate Group umbrella. Bryan currently leads the construction and rental management team.

He has been instrumental in growing the Burkentine Real Estate portfolio with his hands-on approach. Bryan’s self-motivated attitude, attention to detail, and lean management philosophy are what drive him through challenges and towards success. He enjoys bringing fresh, innovative, building design concepts to all projects moving forward, as the Burkentine Brand establishes itself beyond the Mid-Atlantic to new territories including CT, TN, NC, SC, and FL.

Colby is our dealmaker! He holds a Master of Science in Global Real Estate Development from New York University. He has over 15 years of executive-level experience in corporate real estate investment, finance, and luxury brand operations.

Colby has a proven track record of forming strategic partnerships, facilitating acquisitions of real estate in target markets, and driving revenue through closed transactions. For five years running, Colby was recognized by BisNow as one of their Top Real Estate Leaders Under 40.

Known for his expertise in Asset Management, Capital Markets, and Operations, he is a key player, maintaining high-level connections throughout the real estate industry. As a client-facing executive and relationship builder, he has proven invaluable to the Burkentine family of companies for his knowledge of deal structure, deal execution, and operations that achieve projected outcomes.

As Vice President of Asset Management, Jesse Snyder oversees all asset and property management operations at Burkentine, serving as a vital link between property management and other business units. He collaborates closely with finance and accounting to enhance financial metrics and reporting, while also assisting capital markets with long-term financing objectives.

Prior to joining Burkentine, Jesse served as Vice President at a leading real estate investment and construction firm based in Houston, TX. He brings a wealth of experience in real estate operations, including student housing and multifamily property management, investor and equity relations, banking partnerships, and deal acquisition through disposition.

As Vice President of Finance at Burkentine, Ray Grudi leads the Finance and Accounting department with a primary focus on strategic financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, cash management, and risk management. He collaborates closely with ownership to assess the company’s overall financial health and develop plans for future growth.

With 35 years of experience in accounting and finance, along with expertise in team building, Ray is a key leader within the firm.

As Vice President of Development & Construction at Burkentine, Josh Fry oversees both the Preconstruction and Vertical Construction departments. He provides strategic oversight, guidance, and direction for the company’s construction operations, ensuring successful and timely project delivery through effective communication and collaboration across multiple departments.

Joining Burkentine nearly five years ago, Josh has over 10 years of experience in the construction industry, having specialized in healthcare projects during the earlier part of his career. Born and raised in Hanover, PA, he has been familiar with Burkentine for most of his life.

As Vice President of Land Development & Entitlement at Burkentine Real Estate Group, Matt Flickinger leads the land development department with a strategic focus on identifying and analyzing future land opportunities. He oversees the entitlement process and ensures projects advance from initial approvals to successful completion.

Collaborating closely with ownership, Matt makes timely investment decisions to maintain a robust pipeline for future development. With 33 years of extensive experience in entitlement, land planning, engineering, contract negotiations, construction, and team building, Matt is a pivotal leader within the firm.
